Shirley Nolan founded the charity in 1974, her son Anthony was born with a rare blood disorder called Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome. The only cure was a bone marrow transplant. None of his family were a match so she started searching for an unrelated matching donor. Sadly they never found a match and Anthony passed away but his legacy has given hope and a second chance of life to thousands of blood cancer and blood disorder patients.
Today, it’s helped 22,000 people receive a lifesaving transplant. Before this, finding an unrelated stem cell donor was virtually impossible.
They need more donors to join the stem cell register and raise lifesaving funds so please join the register and become one of us . If you wish to know more about them and their wonderful mission, please visit their website www.anthonynolan.org
