Hi, I'm Lela

I always wanted to be somebody who makes everybody feel like somebody.I didn't want to live my life without a purpose like most of the people I knew. I wanted to be useful and bring joy to those around me, even if they didn't know who the hell I was. I wanted to keep living, even after I was gone…

When a dear friend was fighting her battle against breast cancer, I spent many evenings at the Marsden hospital in London and was introduced to the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust by a young couple who was losing their toddler to leukemia. The next day, I signed up and became a bone marrow donor.

This event intensified my belief in our individual contribution to change the world and passion to spread kindness. It was the beginning of many projects in South America, Africa and Asia where they all started from nothing, just by myself, until others saw my vision, passion and joined my movement. Many thought I was nuts as I had no support from big (or small) NGO’s or organisations, no fundraising teams on a payroll or wealthy connections but I had determination, motivation and passion to search for the places and communities to help, raise the funds and then fly solo to those remote places to execute the project with a simple goal which was to impact at least one person to make it worth it. I didn’t know anybody and these communities were often in remote and underprivileged areas but I always reminded myself a famous quote by Steve Jobs which says “don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your inner voice”. My inner voice always told me that we all can afford to be kind to others and that our actions can inspire or destroy people and I decided that inspiring creates happiness, can be infectious and spread like wildfire.
